FAQ
More frequently asked questions about me:
How did you get into drawing and art?
I started drawing when I was around 18 when I started working in the childcare industry. Obviously working with children, I was doing lots of arts and crafts and it came very naturally. From this point on I started drawing and painting from reference books as well as Youtube videos.
What then?
My friends were very helpful at this point and encouraged me to exhibit my work. From here I did 3 sell out exhibitions, selling my colourful cartoony style paintings. At a later date when I was 30, I started going to life drawing classes and completed two short courses, one in illustration and one in water colour. At this point I was living in Sydney, Australia and started teaching arts and crafts at the local community college (my teaching career in Early Years was all moving alongside my art career and at this point the two combined!).
During my time in Australia, I decided to commit to being a freelance artist and illustrator. I was involved in two children's picture books as well as some other commissioned projects. Since then I have been working part time illustrating and painting and have sold work all over the world which is such a great feeling.
What areas of art do you enjoy?
My original paintings were very Manga oriented and it was purely a hobby. With time I started developing my own style through seeing what I enjoyed about the painting process. I have branched out to many mediums including water colour, pen and ink, charcoal and digital art. I have taught myself Adobe Illustrator as well as doing a short course in 3d modelling and animation, with the aim to go into gaming character design. This has been put on hold for now though as it is extremely time consuming to learn all the programmes (hats off to any 3D artists out there!).
